REVIEW NO TOLERANCE "BOSTON STRAIGHT EDGE" (7 ", 2007/09 540 RECORDS 10)

This product is so " square "to seem entirely built around a table. From the graphics on the disc, which leads immediately to the first compilation "Only The Strong" Victory Records (1990), the "texts" (it's almost embarrassing to call them such) that would dwarf the Chorus Of Disapproval more emphatic, until the music is a perfect cross between Compare and Brotherhood and a little 'One Life Crew ... The disk in question is the release of their demo on vinyl, released in 2007 for the Edge Day Records (never heard it ..). In the sheet of lyrics and liner notes there is no mention of any contact with them, and my Internet searches have only produced at most a few reviews. All this makes me think further that it was an impromptu project and that in a moment of euphoria have decided to publish it because, musically speaking, the goal was reached and the four pieces here are so canonical in style, but by no means despicable. 500 copies, I understand. I could not find the accounts of their label, but I read that part daqualche should be a subsidiary of Painkiller Records ... try asking them ...

It 's the musical phenomenon of the year this supergroup formed by Keith Morris (Black Flag, Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides); Steve Mc Donald (RED KROSS) and Mario Rubalcaba of great never too late lamented ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, as well as METROSCHIFTER, and especially (former) member of 411 and CHICANO CHRIST !!!!!! Onset scene here has exploded nell'assopitissima HC American remember doing, or for young people by teaching directly, since the beginning of the HC remained so much myth and myth. Their exit strategy was little left to chance, in fact, the inclusion of an exclusive poster of Raymond Pettibon in only the first 1000 copies has sparked a hunt for the rarities to the death, as well as great visibility. And the same policy with the T-shirts, also designed by R. Pettibon (wonderful, go and see them on the Facebook site) printed in 300 copies each. On the other hand they have to price their act as "political" that applied to their products, really affordable for everyone.
... for the record information, the poster in question is none other than the cover design of the ep, reported in size 53x35, 5 cm. Oh, and the music? Here the references are accurate, you can not escape: Black Flag's first hour, those of "Nervous Breakdown" and "Jealous Again" and the Circle Jerks "Group Sex". Four short pieces in which the quotes above are masterfully blended and what comes out is a beautiful album! So much so that not 'idea that this is a simple operation of nostalgia (even if this is the end of the ride), but almost a prosequi in a speech interrupted long ago. Now we await the release of the first "long" work: a box with 4 ep 7 ". It should also be included on this debut.

REVIEW Legless "legless, paranoids PLEASURES AND PARTIES (INCIPIT RECORDS. 2010, CD)

The Legless , Bologna, coming after a debut demo CD dated 2006, with a record well maintained in every respect, graphics and sound. Ten songs, sung in English, basically punk rock, sometimes veered sull'hardcore melodic, pretty fast and incisive, often tinged indie pop that is so cool and at times seems too pimp to me. All you can listen pretty well, thanks to a complicated rhythmic and structured that shows us how we know the Bolognese do musically, and I All that is more reminiscent of the Descendents. I really like "Legless ", but it also signals " Gotta Go Straight To Hell" . The voice is a bit 'too nasal, battery us' inside as hell and, a final note, here and there also appear syntho-electronic sounds.

REVIEW CRANCY CROCK" The Ball Game "(CD, SAMOAN RECORDS , 2010)

Bergamaschi, the Crock Crancy seem to be very grown up listening to the Banda Bassotti (undoubted similarities with "Carraro mayor" of "Old ") and greatly Punkreas (listen Goods "to believe), although we do not seem to disdain even the Pennywise ( Simple"). In " Friday evening, then, introduce even bagpipes, giving everything a touch that not scottish out of place at all. Too bad the final "I love Bernarda " represents an unnecessary loss of style that could spare us. Of note in "Mr Hide " the presence of Paul Gerson which helps to give a touch of rudeness gersoniana not sorry ever.

REVIEW Hostage Calm "Hostage Calm (LP, 2010, RUN FOR COVER 021)

The Hostage Calm is a band from Connecticut that comes with this work on their second album (incidentally, the first I've never heard). are in effect classified as hardcore band, but really varies from post-hc, India, to pop with extreme ease. Sometimes they remind me of ALL the other times the band on GERN BLANDSTEN 90s. Still others developed the 80's pop of the Feelies, The Smiths and the like ... But they do everything very well ... and it's an album that you listen to from beginning to end, it makes you swing your head ... and the next day put it back up again ... Not There has never fallen in style or power fluctuations ... Production and Recording manicured, as well as the cover is beautiful. It just beautiful! lyrics printed inside cover and printed inner sleeve with photos and info.

REVIEW GIVE" HEAVEN IS WAITING "(EP, 2010, REACT! 014)

Another nice departure from the REACT! which has now risen to label reference for lovers of a certain level of sound sXe! Here we are dealing with a band from Washington DC in the first place, and always in the first place (poetic license) this bell'EP two tracks (or what used to be called "single") was recorded by none other than Don Zientara. Translated, it means in a nutshell bell'hc melodic. In particular, the title track "Heaven Is Waiting " is a song very well managed, HC mid-tempo melodic and well structured. A bit 'type EMBRACE. The b-side is always on the same line, but not very memorable. Bello.

REVIEW Betrayed" SUFFERING "(EP, 2010, REACT ! 012)

In four years from now repute LP "Substance" Betrayed the back with four songs "softened" compared to the past . The formula of the Old School (straight edge) powerful, melodic chorus and the earlier work on the new EP has almost abandoned the chorus, slowed down the speed and gave some relief to the melodies. The standard of the new EP is moderately high but not stratospheric. The recording quality is decent, but you could definitely do better, and the disk would have won. Very beautiful title track " Suffering" that seems taken from the first (great) work of Shades Apart. The lyrics are printed inside the cover. Includes coupon to download the disk. Black vinyl.

"The explosive PLAN BASIL"


First Happy New Year to all!
My 2011 has started with the vision a film that intrigued me a bit.
Many will have seen the film of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's "The Fabulous World of Amelie."
I liked very much, and I was curious to see his last film "The explosive PLAN BASIL", or "Micmacs à tire-larigot," which stars the director of "Welcome to the Sticks" (Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis) Dany Boon.
The film I was not disappointed at all, indeed it was much better than I thought.
The story is by no means trivial, but about a grievance, that of the protagonist Basil, who is no stranger to what is now in the market many feel toward the war.
This resentment leads Basil to send forward a plan aimed to hit two of the most major arms producers.
But the plan can not work without the help of its new family of adoption that has no prejudice towards anyone and accept it with open arms.
So my advice is to see if you have the chance.
